The Parish was established on September 10, 1962, by Archbishop Byrne. The first Pastor was Fr. John W. Fitzgerald. The original church was named Sant NiƱo and made of adobe. The present church was constructed in 1971.
The church increased its seating when it was able to use the religious education rooms inside the church. This was made possible because of a newly built multipurpose Religious Education Center built next to the church. The new Center was dedicated by Archbishop Michael Sheehan on September 22, 1996.
Holy Child Catholic School opened in 2008. The Parish Feast Day is December 25.
