AND EVENTS

Adult Formation Ministry

Men's Bible Study

Every Wednesday from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. the Adult Formation Ministry is hosting a Men's Bible Study in the parish office conference room. The Study will trace God's plan for salvation woven throughout the Old and New Testaments. The program utilizes "The Bible Timeline" by Jeff Cavins. It is a DVD based program consisting of 50-minute video presentations followed by group discussion.

The Bible was written for specific audiences in specific circumstances and is filled with many confusing and apparently conflicting directives for the modern person. Come and see the dots connected, the crooked path made straight, as God leads, corrects, and rewards those who are faithful to His call.

Why We're Catholic
by Trent Horn (Catholic Answers Press)

Every Tuesday from 6:15 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. the Adult Formation Ministry is hosting a study on Catholic topics in Blessed Miguel Pro Hall. Why do we believe that God exists, that he became a man and came to save us, that what looks like a wafer of bread is actually his body? Why do we believe that he inspired a holy book and founded an infallible Church to teach us the one true way to live? Starting October 24 the study will take a look at these questions and more in Trent Horn's new book Why We're Catholic: Our Reasons For Faith, Hope, And Love.

40 Days for Life Fall Prayer Campaign

701 San Mateo NE, Albuquerque
September 27 to November 5
Daily - 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Our community will unite with cities across America and around the world for a massive, coordinated, pro-life mobilization. This is an effort to bring together people of all faiths to pray for an end to the loss of pre-born human life and for the healing of those affected by abortion.

40 Days for Life is a focused pro-life effort that consists of:
40 days of prayer & fasting
40 days of peaceful vigil
40 days of public witness

Join us in a peaceful prayer vigil in front of Planned Parenthood on San Mateo. Whether you choose to hold a sign or not, stand or kneel, or pray silently or out loud, please remember that this is a peaceful campaign. We are standing as Christ's ambassadors out there and any behavior that can be viewed as radical or extreme is counterproductive. The success that this campaign has had over the years is proof that peaceful prayer does work.

Our intentions are to be in front of Planned Parenthood and to pray over the building, the employees, and all clients to reconcile their lives to God by taking the first step of accepting and choosing life-affirming options. Holding signs, praying the rosary or any other prayer, or going over the daily 40 Days for Life devotionals are all ways we can ask God to close down Planned Parenthood and help those who have participated in abortions.

For more information go to 40daysforlife.com/local-campaigns/albuquerque/, ABQ Facebook 40 Days for Life, or E-mail the representatives of the Holy Child Pro-life Ministry. If you go to the 40 Days for Life web page you can sign up to receive daily devotionals, readings and exciting news about 40 Days campaigns around the world! Since 2007 - more than 13,000 lives saved from 40 Days for Life locations nationally and worldwide – praise God!

Society of St. Vincent de Paul,
Holy Child Conference

Society of St. Vincent de Paul thanks Holy Child parishioners for their generosity to the poor. This year we were able to give the St. Vincent de Paul National Disaster Relief Program $4,000 to aid the victims of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma. The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is grateful to all of the parishioners who donate to the poor (second collection on the 1st Sunday of each month).

If you find in your heart that you would like to help with the poor, please call the Parish office for contact information or come to a meeting on the second or last Sunday , after the 10 a.m. Mass. in the large school room across from San José Hall. We have several missions, like driving those that have no other way to Dr's , groceries, etc,, visiting the lonely, finding organizations willing to donate to our cause, helping with the youth program.

Eucharistic Adoration Adorers Needed

"Could you not watch one hour with me?" Matthew 26:40
We like to schedule two adorers each hour in case one can't make it. We are currently in need of a second adorer for Monday through Friday for any of these hours between 8:30 a.m. through 5:00 p.m. To volunteer call 281-2297.

Did you know that in January 2005, we began a twelve-hour daily Adoration with two adorers every hour to celebrate the "Year of the Eucharist" proclaimed by the late Pope John Paul II? Come and experience the "True Presence" yourself.

Currently the number of adorers barely covers each hour. We need 45 new adorers in order to have two on each hour. If you have been considering Adoration – take the plunge now. There are so many blessings during and from Adoration.

Project Defending Life

Project Defending Life continues to provide aid and comfort to abortion-vulnerable women in unplanned and crisis pregnancies at their offices on 7009 Prospect Ave, NE in Albuquerque. They are in need of financial donations and baby items for helping the moms and their babies and to support the operations of PDL. For more detailed information or if you would like to help go to the PDL Home Page. Donations can be made from their website. You can also follow them on their Facebook page.

GREAT NEWS! Project Defending Life will soon open another office including the new Holy Innocents Chapel. The location will be at 729 San Mateo Blvd., less than a block north of their original location. More details will be made available as this development continues.

Project Defending Life is a Catholic-based ministry that answers the challenge of Pope John Paul II's encyclical, the Gospel of Life. They are committed to defending the sacredness of human life from conception to natural death, focused specifically on ending abortion. PDL serves the greater Albuquerque and Santa Fe areas of Northern New Mexico, within the Archdiocese of Santa Fe, and collaborate with other pro-life efforts in the state of New Mexico.
